VMware update manager plugin in vCenter will be disabled with connection error.

Failure cases can be:

  • From the Installed Plug-ins, if you try to enable the disabled VMware vSphere Update Manager plugin. It will get disabled with error.
  • You see the error: There was an error connecting to VMware vSphere Update manager – [vCenter Name or IP:443]. The request failed because of a connection failure. (Unable to connect to the remote server).
  • You see the error: There was an error connecting to VMware vSphere Update manager – [vCenter Name or IP:443]. : Vmomi.Fault.NotAuthenticated : the Session is not authenticated.
  • You see the error: An internal error occurred in the vSphere Client. Details: Unable to connect to the remote server
